Reflection- Anonnya Mahmud

I am Anonnya, and I am a transfer student at The City College Of New York.  Fall 2019 is my first semester at this college pursuing my bachelor’s degree in Computer Science major. Despite English being my second language, it has always been one of my favorite subjects that I enjoy learning. I enrolled in English-21007 as it is a requirement for my major. Steve made us feel comfortable instantly when he entered the class. That gave me a feeling of joy and relief. He made sure all of us were relaxed; unlike most of the professors, he took it slow and gave everyone a chance to just breathe. There are many professors who have no idea who you are.  Furthermore, things get complex and harsh in a matter of seconds, especially for those who are new to a college. As a student, I believe it is very important for professors to build that relationship with their students where they can come to you with an open mind and have a normal conversation. I found that mentor/advisor in Steve. He taught us how to get a lot of work done in a very small amount of time. All you need to do is BE RESPONSIBLE. He explained the material in a way that everyone can understand and I think that was impressive.  Last but not least, It has been an amazing experience taking this course with Stephen Conway.
